This is a living archive of my thoughts, experiences, and hard-earned insights, drawn from an unusual life. Here you’ll find reflections on the food I’ve eaten, the things I’ve bought, the people I’ve encountered, the places I’ve seen, the books I’ve read, the quotes I’ve kept, and the trends I’ve spotted and capitalized on.
I write this for you, my children, those already here and those yet to come. Daddy loves you more than words can hold. I want each of you to live lives you’re proud of. This is my thinking, in my own voice, left here for you to explore. I hope one day it proves useful.
If, by some unlikely chance, I’m gone before I can guide you in person, let this stand as a poor substitute. But in the more likely case that I’m still here, let this serve as an intellectual archive, a record that I held these convictions long before you were born. May that give weight to my words, and credibility to the wisdom I hope to pass on to you.

She had not known that she was cold until she was no longer cold. Change was what made knowledge possible. A lie became the truth when enough people had reasons to pretend it was true. So much of learning, decided Théra, consisted of forgetting how much you already knew. The world is infinite, but the…
It was quite the shocking disappointment. Like popping some delightful sweetmeat into one’s mouth and, upon chewing, discovering it was actually a piece of shit. But that was the experience of being a monarch. One shocking mouthful of shit after another. Absolutes are never to be trustedFaith must be shaken from time to time, or…
If you think that state-change, being one with the world, and being at peace is so awesome, you should check out the great work that the Tibetan monks have been doing over the last 1000 years or so. They are chill, really at peace, and can even lower their body temperature at will solely through…
All questions were once spiritual. Since the beginning of time, spirituality and religion have been called on to fill in the gaps that science did not understand. Religion has always persecuted science. Having faith requires leaps of faith, cerebral acceptance of miracles-immaculate conceptions and divine interventions. And then there are the codes of conduct. The…
There are men who bloom in chaos. You call them heroes or villains depending on which side wings the war, but until the battle call they are but normal men who long for action, who lust for the opportunity to throw off the routine of their normal lives like a cocoon and come into their…
Memories are dangerous things. You turn them over and over, until you know every touch and corner, but still you’ll find an edge to cut you. There’s something brittle in me that will break before it bends. Hate will keep you alive where love fails The biggest lies we save for ourselves I’ll tell you…
We’re all a disappointment to someone.’ The desert is hot and boring. I’m sorry, but that’s pretty much all there is to it. It’s also sandy, but rocks are essentially dull things and breaking them up into really small pieces doesn’t improve matters. Some people will tell you how the desert changes character day by…
my fake laugh is even better than my real one, and nine-tenths of being popular is the ability to jolly the menials along. The world is changing, moving beneath our feet. We are in a war, children of the Red March, though you may not see it yet, may not feel it. We are in…
We need a great rebirth of the heroic in our world. Every sector of human society, wherever that may be on the planet, seems to be slipping into unconscious chaos. – Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette, King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, The 19th-century American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said that “Fame is the fragrance of heroic deeds.”…
Friedrich Nietzsche believed himself to be a philosophical physician. One of his missions in life was to help others understand the sickness into which modern society was falling and to offer a cure to the poison of a corrupted value system. “To be a physician here to be inexorable here, to wield the knife here…
